The topics of the program were chosen based on a review of the programs from recent meetings, and consultations with members of the society including past officers. This symposium will address the most recent advances in cytopathology, histopathology and molecular pathology aimed at better diagnosing and therefore treating and investigating follicular cell derived thyroid malignancies. The classification of thyroid carcinomas of follicular cell origin is still subject to considerable controversies. These problems have an impact on the management of thyroid carcinomas patients and on the clinic-pathologic and molecular research performed to advance the field. The objective of the program is to arm surgical pathologists and cytologists with the tools needed to generate up to date and clinically relevant diagnosis. |
